Staying in love is the most difficult part

Bookmark and Share

How do you keep your partner interested in you for the rest of your life? You hook up with the man or woman of your dream, you date, have minor issues as most couples do, get married, before you know it everything becomes boring and uninteresting and you might even be thinking of divorce. Should it be so?

Let’s look it this way. People change most time; their expectations change, their look change over time, that spark when you started might no longer be there.

Hooking up with someone is the easiest part, how about staying in love? Falling in love with your spouse over and over again is the most difficult part. It takes falling in love with your spouse repeatedly to keep the spark alive.

Communication gap is always the problem, but didn’t you see the red flag in the course of your relationship. Some partners might not be good in communicating to each other, this poses a problem. Why did you get married to him or her? What made you want to spend the rest of your life with him or her?

These questions come up when issues arise. Life does get in the way many times, but didn’t you have challenges when you were falling in love? How did you overcome the obstacles at the beginning of your relationship?

If you want to keep the light burning, go back in time to your earliest memories of your spouse and the reason you felt you were so much in love that you wanted to spend the rest of your life with him or her. It doesn’t happen by chance; it happens when two people are committed to each other and they love each other as much now, as they did when they were dating.

Sure, there are major problems now that were not there when you fell in love, but is the chemistry still there? If you suddenly decide you are bored with your spouse and you feel trapped by marriage, ask yourself what changed, and what part did you play in those changes? And then get back to looking at your spouse if he or she is the most important person in your life.
